Not all toilets are created equal.  Depending on the brand and design, toilets vary in how much they conserve water, how seamlessly they fit with your style and decor, how easy they are to install, and how well they perform.

As you begin the process of specifying toilets for 2018, consider some of the following trends and factors that can ensure your success and your customers’ peace of mind:

• WaterSense. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) WaterSense program mandates that toilets meet or exceed strict water-conservation performance and flushing standards in order to earn a certification.  Look for certified toilets that operate at 4.8 liters.  Selecting a WaterSense-certified toilet can save your customers thousands of gallons, and ultimately hundreds of dollars, each year.
• Decorative Suites. While toilet performance and reliability are critical to the specification process, balancing functionality with high design is key to ensuring customer satisfaction.   Gerber has introduced several decorative suites that complement a well-designed bathroom environment.  Many Gerber suites offer matching toilets and undercounter or pedestal sinks to make it easy to create a cohesive bathroom style.
• Comfort Height. In order to ensure bathroom accessibility, the American Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that toilets measure between 43-48 centimeters, or 17-19 inches, in height from the floor to the top of the seat.  Many people feel a noticeable difference in ease of seating with a toilet that meets ADA regulations, particularly the elderly who need taller and more comfortable toilets.
• Ease of Installation. For plumbers and contractors, time is money.  The quicker you set a toilet and move on to the next job, the more you maximize your time and the more projects you can take on.
