Got issues with buzzing in your ears yet or been to a music show, where your ears ring afterwards!
Chances are damage has occurred to your hearing. Our hearing works when sound waves reach the structures inside our ears, this causes sound wave vibrations and there converted into nerve signals that our brain recognizes as sound.
Exposure to loud noise may cause wear and tear on the hairs or nerve cells, that sends sound signals to the brain. When these hairs or nerve cells are damaged or missing, electrical signals aren’t transmitted as efficiently, and hearing loss occurs.
Working on construction work sites can easily cause issues to our hearing and a simple example is using a hand drill. It puts out 100 decibels of noise (According to the Mayo Clinic) after 2 hours of use without ear protection, you’re moving into injury level. A chain saw or lawn mower both kick out 110 decibels, now you’re looking at 2 hours before damage occurs. Normal conversation is 60 decibels, so there is no need for any ear protection, although you might want to wear protection, especially if you don’t like what the other persons saying.
Its never to late to protect your hearing, before irreparable damage is caused.
