Canadian Contractor Car

After two years and 13 days of daily posts, this site for renovators and custom homebuilders has brought in the best traffic numbers ever

50,000pvDecember 13, 2013 — It’s been two years and 13 days since I started posting daily on this site. Some of you might remember the videos I was shooting on my way to work from my car on my Iphone. It was not easy to keep up the daily posts, but I knew it was essential if we were going to be able to engage Canadian Contractor readers online. And I couldn’t just post stuff we had already published. It had to be fresh content and relevant to your lives.

If you had asked me then if I thought there would come a day when we would see 50,000 page views in a month, I don’t think I would have believed it. But here it is, thanks to the great work editor Steve Payne has been doing (he’s still not getting a raise) and thanks also to Brad Ling, our videographer.

The best part is that getting the conversation going and keep it going has been the most fun I’ve had since I became the editor 13 years ago. It’s given me the chance to interview some great people (Mike Holmes, MPP Bob Runciman, Brian Sharwood of HomeStars, there are a bunch more), get feedback directly from our readers and rant a bit (a lot) about the things that bug me about this industry.

Thanks, guys, for hanging in there with us and coming back again and again to canadiancontractor.ca. The more you come here, the easier it is to sell ads for the site, the more we can advocate for you and bring you the information you need to make smart, informed decisions for your company.

First of all congratulations on reaching this milestone. It clearly shows that the stories and articles you have published have hit a nerve and has certainly given a voice to the industry. You have introduced an in your face format that has opened up a lot of eyes to some of the truth. A media platform that has given us a voice when mainstream media in my opinion give that voice to who pays the most to advertise.
Through your efforts combined with Steve’s input and influence you have made it possible for people like myself to get their stories out. Allowing us to give a true picture of what really happens in our world, the real world. Through yourself and Steve and the many articles you have done dealing with labor issues, the MOL ,unions and the WSIB you provide not the answer but the exposure to the other side of the story.
On a more personal note I have received emails and calls from people I dealt with in the past, who thank’s to you, now realize what happened. In each case they have expressed not only their dismay with what happened but to provide me with their positive support for what you and Steve allowed me to do.
    To me that was important.
Keep up the good work .”The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” JFK
