Are you conservative?

In our current polarized political world you as independent business owner are just trying to make a buck and feed your family and don’t necessarily want to chose sides where politics are concerned. But your taxes, your customers and the little money you get to keep are affected in large measure by the fundamental beliefs that our Canadian society holds.

What beliefs are best for business? Liberals will say that a society that transfers funds from working citizens to those less fortunate in career is good for business because it makes the streets safe and the society well ordered. Conservatives would say of the same policy that there is moral hazard in it; that it encourages dependence and indigence and erodes the take home pay of good citizens who deserve to keep the money they earned (and spend it on renovations, hopefully.)

The problem with most of us, however, is that we no longer know what we believe. Well, how about you put down the hammer for a minute, or the estimating calculator, and read a recent article in the National Post that provides a primer on what it means to be a Conservative or a Liberal.
