Females hammering away

By Heidi Filici

For the last few years, WINC (Women in Construction) have joined Habitat for Humanity Toronto’s Women Build initiative to help in the construction of quality, affordable homes for those less fortunate. They are just one of the non-profit organizations who volunteer each year to take part in the nine-day project.

“I have always wanted to be a part of a Habitat for Humanity Build project. Getting to do so with the WINC team was incredible. I’m pretty sure this team of construction babes was much more productive than most!”, said Corinne Lynds, editor of On-Site Magazine. The 35 WINC volunteers raised  approximately $20,000.

In total, this years’ participants of the Build drilled right past their fundraising goal of $100,000 and managed to hammer out $116,225 worth of support. Thanks to the hardworking ladies at WINC, as well as the other teams and individual fundraisers, the Acme Cres. project is one step closer to completion.
