We need a contractor version of HomeStars…

Canadian Contractor

:...to protect us from cheap, unreasonable, possibly mentally-ill scammers" (and other nightmare clients)

Lucas Cheesborn posted this in response to our video interviews (July 2013) with Brian Sharwood of HomeStars:

“What is really needed is a contractor version of HomeStars. A website where those [potential clients] who are cheap, unreasonable, possibly mentally ill, scammers, tenants posing as landlords to get free work, high strung, over the shoulder types or any other potential pains-in-the-you-know-where can be avoided by the contractor. Scammers are a two way street in the construction industry and [the public] would be surprised to learn how many customers will rake contractors over the coals and basically attempt to extort them for free work.”

Yes you are right I have one in small claims right now, Hearing set for Feb. 5-2014.
After the framing of a kitchen renovation was almost completed, the home owner call for a building inspection without my knowledge. The results were as expected. Not up to code as yet. The next day she fire me with so called health and safety reason as an excuse. However little she know that Iam sertified in the building code chapter 9.
Homeowner turned all of a sudden contractor/expert.
However after examining her defence it quicly came to show hat it was all well planed from the beginning.
Of my 37 years in the renovation business this is the worst I met.

  3. Tell me your requirements and I will build that web site.

Our stated mission is to build an online home renovation community whereby both homeowners and contractors can make informed decisions. It is not a one sided conversation. Both have stories to tell that would make one’s hair stand on end.
