Apprentice carpenters test skills in Edmonton

This year’s National Apprenticeship Competition, which took place in Edmonton on Aug. 25, featured a competition in which apprentice carpenters tested their skills while building personalized doghouses to be donated to the Edmonton Humane Society.

The carpenters were not informed until the last minute of the project they were being asked to design and build on the fly.

The National Apprenticeship Competition takes place in a different province each year. Running annually for 20 years, the competition allows trades to compete against each other in carpentry, drywalling and millwrighting.
