According to Statistics Canada, renovation investment increased from the first quarter (Q1) to the second (Q2) this year by 19 per cent (from $10.62 billion to $12.99 billion). This was a 5 per cent increase for Q2, compared with the same period in 2011. Investment in single family dwellings also increased almost 22 per cent from Q1 ($5.42 billion) to Q2 ($6.59 billion) of this year.
