Ontario College of Trades: meet the chair Oct. 18

The Ontario College of Trades, which will start invoicing hundreds of thousands of Ontario tradespeople in January, has been called “a tax grab” by its opponents. If you’d like to meet the chairperson of this new organization, in person, you will have a chance at the Canadian Contractor offices, Thursday, Oct. 18, 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm.

The mandatory fees to individual tradespeople, which are expected be in the range of $100 to $200, will affect up to 500,000 trades. What will they get for this money? Not enough. In fact, very little, say opponents like the Construction Employers Coalition, who believe the Ontario College of Trades should be shut down before it starts mailing out those invoices.

This event is brought to you by CARAHS (Canadian Association of Renovators and Home Services). The evening is free but pre-registration is required.
