Canadian Contractor reader Sabina dumps all over the Altum Health clinics associated with the WSIB, for allegedly "cross[ing] the line from fiscal budget restraint to malpractice, and outright fraud..."

The following is a post from a reader, Sabina, in response to Alec Caldwell’s several posts alleging that the WSIB is on a “claims denial binge.” Recently, we have read many posts on our site from people who say that WSIB-affiliated doctors and clinics have unfairly minimized their injuries. Sabina’s more-or-less clearly implied allegations of conflict-of-interest here, on the Altum Clinic’s part, have not been substantiated or investigated. Given the legal confidentiality of patient records, they will undoubtedly remain so. However, we reposting this in our contractor readers’ interest. There are now 10 Altum Clinic locations in Ontario, with WSIB claimant evaluations appearing to be a major part of their business model. WSIB’s Chief Operating Office, John Slinger, wrote to us recently to say that Alec Caldwell’s allegations of a “claims denial binge” was not factually true. Read that post here.

“WSIB sent me to their Altum Clinic. I had a torn meniscus resulting in an unstable knee. I should have had surgery to trim the meniscus but WSIB’s doctor did not recommend it. Within 11 months, my cartiriledge was stripped down to the bone by this damaged meniscus in my knee. I now have advance stage arthritis in the knee largely due (Editor’s Note: this is Sabina’s claim) to this doctor’s negligence. I found out after the fact, unstable knees should have arthroscopy.

“This doctor tried to convince me I had pre-existing arthritis. Another orthopod assured me [that] when I initially had the injury, I had no existing arthritis in the knee. WSIB’s doctor then tried to mis-diagnose me with a much minor patella tendonitis to cover/delay the diagnosis of chondrosis/arthritis. He refused to order anything which would cost WSIB except grueling physio.

“Things which would have helped me: orthotics, knee brace, massage therapy, chiro were denied me because as he put it, “WSIB” would not approve.

“ANYONE having a work related injury, do not go to WSIB’s clinic.

“You will have a poorer quality of care than if you go to [an] OHIP clinic.

“WSIB clinic doctors have crossed the line from fiscal budget restraint to malpractice, and outright fraud: ready to misdiagnose workers to prevent/delay claims.”

    WSIB has become a self-serving, money making business for the provincial government
    The government has gone after the businesses who are the least able to pay, small businesses. Another short sighted decision by a government who is more interested in listening to their corporate buddies than doing what is best for Ontario. Independent contractors are the least able to pass on these costs to customers and small businesses are the real job creators in any economy; hiring various labourers and apprentices. Shame. Approximately 30%-35% of workers do not have WSIB coverage and many of these jobs have less risk of physical injuries than labourer and sub-contractors. ALL employers should be required to be part of WSIB and ALL premiums paid by small businesses need to be lower especially when one considers the challenges faced by private contractors. Retail, banks and Insurance companies should be forced to pay into this plan, this would then reduce the level of premiums needed from other businesses.
    That said; WSIB hasn’t been paying for injuries and disabilities anyway in most case. Perhaps WSIB will pay for short term injuries but they haven’t been paying for the permanently disabled now. Injured Workers and Poverty Survey 2010

    So where are employer premiums going? One only needs to look at Ontario’s sunshine list where their are 100s of WSIB workers making well in excess of $100,000.00 plus bonuses for denying and limiting benefits to injured and disabled workers who are being forced into years of appeals for legitimate benefits. Management has introduced illegal policies that cut benefits and services paid to the permanently disabled. Therefore, injured and disabled workers are not receiving the benefits promised at 85% of wages and health care coverage; thousands have been forced onto welfare and to commit suicide.
    Where else are these premiums going? Rebates in the form of experience ratings. Businesses are fined after workers have been injured and killed then WSIB turns around and provides certain big businesses huge rebates that are well in excess of these fines. This basically results in these certain businesses are receiving a refund for the premiums paid into WSIB. Who are these big businesses? I do not know but I can only guess they are supportive of this government. Many policies and practices by WSIB’s management are illegal and criminal since WSIB was suppose to be independent, non-adversarial and gathers of information for the administration of social benefits to injured and disabled workers. Much like EI is for the unemployed where legitimate benefits are to be paid in full. The WSIB system is suppose to fair and unbiased for the benefit for all. This has not been the case for many years since some businesses are not paying their fair share of premiums leaving some to pay more than they should. WSIB workers are way over paid for the work they do. WSIB should not be paying huge fees for doctors and clinics to rubber stamps benefit denials and ignoring medical specialist reports. Corruption!! All law abiding citizens need to let WSIB and the government know that this will not be tolerated anymore. Whether this is through protesting or through a Class Action Lawsuit for WSIB’s decisions that are illegal, patently unreasonable and beyond their authority. Businesses and Labour need to unit against this common enemy, this corrupt agency, WSIB.
    As noted in this article, WSIB has paid for and created these many clinics across the province(likely paid for through WSIB premiums) to override medical reports from treating specialists in there determination to deny legitimate claimants. Visit any injured worker FB sites to hear some of the horror stories of your fellow Canadians. Injured workers forced by WSIB under the threat of having their benefits cut to go to these “clinics” for an evaluation of their injuries. Workers who have just had surgery by their specialist to repair the damage of their injuries and WSIB was advised these injured workers were medically unfit for any work. On these websites are disabled workers who have been abused by WSIB’s clinics where physiotherapists have permanently disabled these injured workers. How? Physiotherapists forcefully tearing out surgical repairs done specialists when testing for Range of Motion(RAM). Imagine your surgeon advising you to not use your arm, leg or back after surgery but a physiotherapist forces these injuries past their safe zone and ripping out the work of these surgeons. Check out some of these FB site of disabled workers talking among themselves. Occupy WSIB…, Injured workers fighting WSIB, WSIB/WCB needs to change… The reason employer premiums are as high as they are has nothing to do with disabled workers since WSIB IS ON A DENIAL BINGE. Normal age related conditions are also being used to deny claims for any benefits. Canadians would be shocked since many strategies being used by WSIB are both illegal and a Charter violation. There is no point in paying WSIB premiums for older workers who may have osteoarthritis since WSIB will never pay these claims anyway.

    Hello

    I had a fall at work which resulted in back injury. My doctor gave me 7 days off of work and return on modified duties. When back they put me on a machine that is different from what I was offered and stood for all shift duration. Condition was worse and doctor gave me a month off work with mri referral. Then Wsib worker asked for a permission to refer me to a specialist since that would speed things up instead of having to wait for my doctor referral to specialist. Today I received a call from wsib that an appointment has been set up for me next week in Toronto while I live in Ottawa. I said it was short notice and I prefer to see someone in Ottawa. They refused said appointment confirmed and I must go and if I don’t go there will be concerns (that we a rude voice message left for me)

    What concerns are they referring to? Do they gave the right to force me to go to their clinic and see their specialist. They are forcing me: do they have that right

      WSIB will hit you with non-cooperation penalties if you do not attend any appointments that they set up for you. Non-cooperation penalties begin with a 50% reduction in your benefits to having your benefits completely cut off.
      File a Human Rights complaint, this is a policy that discriminates and violates your human rights. Every other Canadian has the right to have their own treating physician determine their health care but as a disabled worker; the WSIB has created policies that state that NON-MEDICAL case managers determine health care for disabled workers. This is a lower standard of health care and as noted in this article can and has inflicted further harm on disabled workers.
      Disabled workers are being denied the right to refuse health care that is forced upon them by WSIB’S clinics. Criminal.
      The law allows employers and insurance companies to request a medical assessment of a disabled worker to confirm disability. The issue lies with forced treatment and bias assessments by a WSIB clinic as in this case. Check any Iws (Injured Worker FB site) and you will find numerous testimonials of injured workers who have had their injuries turned into disabilities. Type WSIB/WCB in facebook for the truth.

    This Greedy, Scum, Corrupted, Charity Organization called WSIB/WCB across Canada, and; Ministry of Labour, Tribunal, Upper Canada Law (Law Society), and Ombudsman are part of our Government, they are all under Governments control, our Social Service and Health Care are receiving money from WSIB/WCB, unfortunately I wrote to several different MPP’s, and on face book that WSIB/WCB need to be “RID” from Canadian System forever, since they are NOT following “Meredith Agreement” that every injured and disabled worker must be covered by WSIB/WCB for their work related injuries and work related disablement, and that companies need to pay for their workers to Social Service and Canadian Health Care, we (injured and disabled workers) are receiving money anyway from Social Service, and getting help from Health Care, but that is WRONG; the money that we are receiving belongs to hard working Canadian Tax Payers, and WSIB/WCB are collecting billions of dollars from companies, and investing into different organizations, like KPMG, and there are more, here in Canada all Laws and Policies are not used correctly, and nobody is working under OATH as they swore, everybody is breaking law and policies, and all those that I noted above find way how to get TRUTH into LIE and win with it, now I can wrote little bit about my WSIB case and how WSIB (Adjudicator Janet Stadtlander), Tribunal (Vice Chair Tom Carroll), Ministry of Labour (Joe Walsh), Upper Canada Law (Low Society Commissioner) and Ombudsman (Andrea Marlowe) changed my original medical diagnoses and all evidences that I have into LIE, and they denied me with their LIES, they do not care what it said in my medical evidences and all other evidences, they made their own LIES, changing my medical diagnoses, dates of work related injuries, dates of medical diagnoses, they did not accept my MRI’s, CTScans, EMG tests, psychologist and psychiatrist medical diagnoses, medical diagnose from Canadian specialist in Germany who noted that; I’m coming in Canada in Excellent conditions, just some example from vice Chair Tom Carroll; he noted in his decision that I worked in Canada at construction for “two years” before I started working for “Kiwi Newton Construction from Guelph Ontario”, but I lived in Canada only 19 months and 7 days, for that time I went for ESL school, I do have proof for that and from Social Service that I was receiving money from them for that time, How can I work and be on Social Service? this is impossible here in Canada, then Vice Chair noted that my first medical diagnose for Chronic Pain is noted on June 29, 2006 (five years latter), my first chronic right shoulder medical diagnose is noted by Dr. Shad on June 28, 2001, who took me off of work and recommended for therapies at AIM Clinic to see Dr. Michael in Kitchener, before June 29, 2006 I have over 15 times noted by different doctors and specialists that I have Chronic Pain Disorder, Vice chair compensated my Left Shoulder for which “I do NOT” have any medical diagnose that I injured Left Shoulder, instead to compensate “My Right Shoulder” for which I do HAVE all my medical diagnoses, including MRI’s and EMG tests, and Carpel Tunnel Surgery on my right hand, my first work related injury for Low Back on April 13, 2001, Good Friday or Easter Friday, between 11 and 11:30 am, Dr who worked for WSIB back then noted that I injured my low back “early March” which doesn’t make sense at all, everybody is asking me for a Date, Day, Time and witnesses if they were there, I do have witnesses and Adjudicator noted in her “Memo” that they talked to her, but Tribunal DID NOT accept any witnesses in my WSIB case, and same with those above that I mentioned, my Form 6 is filled out by Adjudicator, and it said; Written By Janet Stadtlander, but Vice Chair noted in one of his paragraphs that I filed out Form 6 and Forwarded to the Board, Adjudicator did NOT wrote everything that I told her on July 05, 2001, by filling up my Form 6 in my name, she never sent to me Form 6 after my two work related injuries, which she filled up for me, (my English was poor, and she noted that in two of her Memos, and two doctors noted that my English was broken), but in Memo #3 she noted that she sent Form 6 f to me, I did received “Form 6” in year 2006 for my low back injury on April 13, 2001, but my previous representatives denied to fill up that Form 6 for me, my previous representatives Stanley Saich and Krishna Badrinarayan were hired by WSIB to represent me, whiteout telling me who are they working for, I find Naumman Kazi Hamid for my WSIB case, but he got exchanged by those two, I was thinking that they are working together, that was in year 2006, to be honest with you I got told by doctors that my WSIB case was MISHANDLED by my representatives and that I should find Lawyer, and sue them for that, then I got told by one person from Upper Canada Law that my WSIB case is Negligence case, and that they used incorrect evidences against me, whit a lot of ERRORS, I’m permanently disabled from those two work related injuries, and receiving ODSP and CPP Disability since 2001, but never got compensation from WSIB, (they payed for some medications in 2001, for which I do have recite) for my two work related injuries and for my disablement

    Injuring or injured workers have become nothing more than them being targets as ATM machines for those they work for with their insurers giving them rebates to the tune of millions of dollars depending on the size of the employer. Any/all worker compensation agencies no matter where they are at, (country, province or state) should be abolished as they currently are. No one worker should turn into an injured or ill worker or even a dead one, have their rights violated and then not have any representation by their legislators. This is a human rights crisis and needs to be corrected by those we elected and entrusted with the good welfare and well being of our existence..

    There are many Injured Workers FORCED into poverty, bankrupt, or homeless, and on Welfare, by the W.C.B./W.S.I.B. Some even commit Suicide.

    The Workers Comp Systems benefit WCB EMPLOYEES, Employers, Lawyers, Government and least of all the Injured Workers.
    What was once the “Meredith Principles” are now a Chapter of “Animal Farm”.
    Basic Laws (Thin Skull Rule) have been stripped from the Injured Workers, and Government has bestowed their rights upon themselves- for which they Profit.

    WCB/WSIB use their own Medical Advisors to Deny Claims and FORCE Injured Workers Back to Work- which in many cases is against their Family Doctors and Independant Specialist’s Advice- so they can Have Big Bonuses.

    Unfortunately, revealing wsib crimes and protesting are just pissing in the wind as the vermin (laughing all the way to he bank) are accountable to no one. Since no government will ever intervene, and injured workers would not fare well in combat, these atrocities will never cease.

    All I can say is that if you been examined by a doctor and you are not happy you have a RIGHT to speak to the doctor and have any problems corrected. If they refuse file a complaint with the college of physicians and surgeons. If enough complain the college will start revoking medical licenses!

    My Husband was sent to Altum Hell, WSIB Pain an Functionality programme.
    We actually filled a complaint with the MOL as they had an elderly man climbing up and down a 16 foot free standing ladder. No staff monitoring.
    My Husband had learned that his Second Orthopedic Surgery hadn’t healed, Subtalar Fusion.
    The pain specialist put him on a list of prescriptions, one which had him covered in blisters. Our family Doctor took him off of it, contacted Altum Hell requesting that another be recommended. Nothing, he was not called back.
    He was told to get on a stationary bike with a unhealed Subtalar Fusion. Again no staff monitoring, when he got the pedal around half way he almost passed out and vomited. My husband got himself off the bike, and outside for air. Not one of Altum Hell’s staff checked on him.
    The group he was with were told that WSIB would buy them $1000.00 beds and $100.00 pillows. When my Husband rolled his eyes at the misinformation a complaint was made to his Case Manager, he wasn’t being compliant. As I told his CM, he wasn’t buying the Bull the staff of Altum Hell were spreading.
    He was told that the Limitations set, didn’t mean you can’t do, just don’t do it very often.
    His 6 Weeks there were stressful, did not help him in any way, shape or form.
    Everyday of his Six Weeks, I sat outside, providing information to Injured Workers that were forced to attend.
    Everyday I talked to I.W’s, as they told me about their accident, WSIB, depression, poverty, despair.
    This was the Cambridge Location, were staff took great pride that none of them were Canadian.
    My Husband had a total of Four Orthopedic Surgeries. Now he is going to be Locked in until Age 65 at full LOE. A four post cane, made to his foot Brace, orthopedic shoes and boots. Mobility Scooter and Brace.

    My Husband was a High Rise Window Cleaner.

      I am at Cambridge right now and I am having a very tough time. Nobody is concerned about my pain and hand me excuses. I am not liking what I am reading.

        To be honest with you it’s the same thing of all the Altum clinics I’ve experienced it with my right shoulder same thing going through what my left shoulder you’re basically come in all they do is give you these exercises for the first blocked second block but certain expectations and pressure to be doing these certain stretches and exercises or you’re not even probably fully healed from a shoulder tear which is my case and there is no proper supervision proper monitoring if you’re completing your exercises or not doesn’t they disregard about your pain and suffering Knights of not sleeping being back on medication because of the flare-ups dealing with chronic headaches and they still talk about returning you to work and increasing your duties it’s in support to wsib there’s nothing for the worker nothing for the worker they are disregarding all our medical from our doctors that are being turned down in order to benefit WSIB.

    I had the WSIB case manager say to me. I will get the specialist to make an amendment to his report. That was also an Altum clinic for WSIB in Cambridge. Then he did supply an amendment to his report. I will testify to that in court and have a recording of my hearing at WSIB appeals resolution officer stating that. Also WSIB moving money to the investment fund. That means millions of injured workers they screwed.

    Denials are the usual practice but they sure do give perks to their Union & Mob friends who have been reprimanded with small fines…but given Safety kickback amounts for being ‘SAFE’ Oxymoron!

    IN HERE IS A QUESTION FOR DOUG FORD ; ”IF YOU BECAME THE ONTARIO PC LEADER AND A POSSIBLE ONTARIO PRIMEIR , WHAT WILL YOU DO TO THE WSIB AND ALL OTHER SOUP TAX COLLETION AGENGIES ?

    The trades people need to became what they were once, people, not numbers and slaves of a false democratic system. The technocrats calling them selves Liberals need to be eliminated politically . What we have in Ontario is no different than the Facism rule in the sixties in some European countries. These parasites were removed out of power, which they never have, the people have the power, also should have the respect they deserve.

    So dear Doug Ford if your dream becomes trough, what will you do for the trades people? will we became free to operate as long we have our real academic licenses, not tax licenses?.

    will we have options on insurance trades maters?, Or be forced to have the WSIB ( worse services insurance business ) when workers get injured and get denial of injured claims?

    They will never give up a paycheck for the injured worker, a pre-existing condition could go back as far as you were a child and fell out of that tree so to speak, they are criminals and have broken every law and make up new ones when needed. WSIB is a joke they have Minister of Labour fine the companies when someone is hurt and I never saw a dime of that $100.000 what a nice bonus it is when we get hurt.
    Sheet metal fell and knocked me to the ground, fractured my back, almost cut off my head, they forced me back to work refused to pay me, then they fired me for not wanting to go back to the plant, I was afraid, now I have PTSP among so many other problems, 20 different types of medication that they do not pay for, all work related to the accident. This is just too much for a normal person to deal with, you lose everything all because you went to work.

    (CORRUPTION AND CRIME IN THE TRUE NORTH)

    In my opinion, as an ambitious 21 years old auto technician, I immigrated to Canada with my parents and four siblings in February 2001. My father had been an English professor for 36 years and he has taught us that Canada is the best country in the world; it is rich, powerful, and modern nation. People have rights, democracy, and they value freedom of speech. But very soon, I realized that Canada is not the best country for all people and those rights and freedoms are created for only a special interest groups, rich and government bureaucrats.
    WSIB (Workplace Safety Insurance Board) is a branch of Canadian workers compensation and its mandate is to collect premium from employers and compensate workers when they get injured on the job. However, this organization has become corrupt and systemically large amount of money had been stolen from the workers compensation budget by their top executives. Over time, their dishonesty has created 11.5 billion dollars deficit (Unfunded liability …p316. Para.1). To eliminate that shortage, the corrupt bureaucrats have created a secret strategy to setup permanent injured workers with plots, so they die early and WSIB does not have to pay for the workers’ injury cost.

    Hence, my career was very in demand in Canada and immediately after immigration, I found a decent job. I have worked for few years in Ontario, but unfortunately my back was injured at work in May 2005. Five months later, the result of X-Ray and MRI showed a moderate disc bulging in L5-S1. The result was considered as a 15% permanent injury and the finding was confirmed by many specialists.

    After one-year litigation, my advocate (lawyer) managed to have WSIB to pay for my retraining program so I can learn another career to accommodate my injury. While I was in school, I was approached by numerous secret agents who were well trained and had a lot of information about my history. They were instructed to become friends with me and manipulate me to do drugs like cocaine and other harmful substances, so I get addicted and do not survive long. When I was not deceived by their first scam, they continuously put me under psychological pressure by trying to put me in trouble with public and law.

    After some research and consultation with my advocate (lawyer), I understood that the corrupt bureaucrats of WSIB setup young permanent injured workers with those plots, so they die early. This group of injured workers is being targeted because over long time, their injury cost the most. Thus, their early fatality offsets government’s large deficit. However, it is executed in very advanced and hypocrite arrangement.
    Life was very difficult but luckily, I have survived and completed two business diplomas from Fanshawe College. That is why I am very thankful to my advocate, family, friends, professors, and all other individuals who have protected me from WSIB. But unfortunately, not many injured workers have the privilege of having supportive family and friends. Very easily they are being trapped and being killed.
    Consequently, if a government agency uses public resource against its own law obedient citizens and no one is held accountable, then public rights has been violated and they don’t have democracy.

    WSIB’s operation is considered as a government organized crime against injured workers. They are influential with 7-billion-dollar annual revenue and they have numerous departments, like human resource, marketing, finance, medical, operation, crisis management and many more. However, the department that causes harm to injured workers is executed in secret.
    In addition, their special department which is called crises management is expert in cover-ups. If anyone raises their voice to make public awareness, they silence the whistleblower. Sadly, all Canadian media is fully monitored and controlled by government. There are thousands of stories like mine, but none of them is permitted to be published.

    Furthermore, WSIB fabricates false stories against injured workers and advertise them nationwide such as; injured workers are being paid too well thus, the system has large deficit. Or, injured workers are faking their injury, therefore, WSIB must be cruel on them. But they have never provided any evidence or facts to prove their statements. These are false accusations and they are created for two reasons.

    1. To motivate their employees to continue their inhumane conducts.
    2. If injured workers complain about the system, public should not have sympathy for them.
    But their intended goal is to create a negative image for injured workers and isolate them from public. WSIB gradually terminate injured workers life, simply because there is not enough fund in the budget and they are very successful.

    According to the Bruser’s report, at macro level, WSIB gives large cash rewards as a form of rebate to big corporations which can hide injures (Bruser D. March 4, 2009). Early death of injured workers reduces labour cost for large corporation.
    From sole economic perspective, it appears a very effectual way to reduce labour cost, because it is very easy to manipulate and kill a very vulnerable person; and it is not so difficult for a large and influential organization to hide it from public and responsible authorities.
    I have reported the misconduct to the local authorities during 2008-2009; conversely, WSIB’s approach got harsher. Because workers’ life has no value in Canadian corporate monarchy.
    Again in 2013, I had to reveal WSIB’s secret policy to the local media. But only one of my articles was posted on TVO for only 48 hours and then it was removed. Immediately after, WSIB warned me to not share my experience with media again, otherwise there will be a retaliation. In addition, they have created a file to represent me as a psychotic and put me under intense surveillance.

    On February 2016, I had to escape to a different province, British Columbia. In my new home, I immediately found a decent job at a Toyota dealership as a product advisor. The work environment was very friendly, and I had one of the best customer services in the firm. I felt free and productive again. But soon after WSIB was informed of my new residence, the corrupt bureaucrats set-me-up with different plots; forcing me to quit my job after 7 months.
    Thus, I’ve been retaliated for speaking the truth by unveiling their hidden crime against injured workers. Consequently, if a person is being punished for sharing his\her own story, then what is the meaning of the freedom of speech?

    WSIB claim that their deficit reached up to 14.2 billion dollars and they reduced it by 9 billion within 7 years by making the work place safer and the number of injuries has reduced (TVO, Dec.14, 2016). But There is a different common consensus among researchers and academics in regarding to that deficit. It is argued that the 14.2 billion dollars’ deficit was inflated and false statistic, so they can use it as an excuse to cut compensation of workers to benefit large corporations. (TVO, Dec.14, 2016). Others add that government hides what caused their deficits and how they reduced it. The cause of their deficits is known due to managerial theft; mainly, creating false expense reports, nepotism, and over employment due to over paid salaries (Public sector salary disclosure 2016). It is well known that most of their agents are hired as permanent injured workers and they are paid as permanent injured workers to hide their true administration cost from federal government. But, it is very disturbing to public that they have systematically murdered thousands of permanent injured workers to eliminate their deficit.

    WSIB has purposely created ambiguity and complication to the system so they can cover-up their corruptions and sacrifice more permanent injured workers as a scapegoat. They can get away with their crime because they have the power and resource such as, creating distorted and false statistics to deceive public and responsible authorities (TVO, Dec.14, 2016).
    Thus, WSIB is not just corrupt, but it commits crimes. Superficially, they pretend and show to the public that they help injured workers, but in secret they are further harming them, so they die early.
    However, corrupt bureaucrats cannot hide all their wrongdoings all the time. Workers are aware of the abusive system and their motivation to work hard and job satisfaction has reduced in the long term. As a result, corrupt WSIB caused to decline the quality and productivity of the workforce.
    Based on my 9 years research, consultation with politicians and law makers, the attainable solution is to abolish corrupt WSIB. In capitalism, the best tool to fix government corruption is privatization. Thus, workers’ injury should be administered like our banks and auto insurance. In privatized model, workers and employers are free to choose where to purchase insurance and how much to pay. Equilibrium price and demand will be determined by market and the firm which can provides better service with fair price will succeed. The sole responsibility of the government is to supervise competing firms and collect appropriate tax.
    My story and thousands more are to request investigation and research to fine the truth. Thus,
    to eliminate doubt, Government should demand an independent investigation about the rate and the number of injured workers’ death after the injury during the past 10 years and compare the result with previous years.
    Since our government purposely avoids doing anything to resolve this public issue, I had to travel to Turkey, Russia, Germany, and Geneva to share my information with their media and governments to shame Canadian Government for devaluing their injured workers.
    In short, I am very optimistic and positive that international community will help Canadian injured workers by publicizing our concern and holding Canada and their Workers compensation bureaucrats accountable for their scam and heinous crimes against injured workers.

    In Saskatchewan, when suffering severe workplace injury, “EVERYTHING POSSIBLE” is deliberately used to DENY medical investigation / medical treatment for workplace injury. “Fraud / Forgery” falsification of injured workers medical information, is ”Blatantly’ used to “ATTACK” injured workers, WCB Slogan: “We Deny, Lie, Falsify, … Hope You DIE” claim administration.

    Since day one surgeons, pain specialists and neurologists have concluded that I have RSD which is now CRPS. I have corrected the WSIB on many occasions that I do not have a lower ankle injury but I did have and I receive a pension for CPD ( Chronic Pain Disability) . I have am now attending one of the top rehab specialists and she is furious over how the WSIB treats their clients. What she wants to know is who does she contact to complain and ask of a review of this. Does the WSIB have doctors and are they the ones making decisions on my claim or is it just a nurse consultant? The WSIB cannot be protected from wrongful doing and there has to be someone they answer to.

    Aswell i was Miss diagnosed by WSIB doctors at the Toronto facility.
    X-ray , CT , MRI And all I get diagnosed with is a major sprain . Six weeks of physical therapy and you will be just fine. So the two doctors say .

    A year and a half later I have seen a neurologist that I got on my own. And for some reason the major sprain ends up being S1 L5 slip. Little different than what they said.

    I believe WSIB is there to not pay out. I went for 11 months with not one dime of pay from WSIB for anything. !!
    My workplace did not file the second portion of the injury report till five months had passed. In this five months any talking I had with WSIB was just a run around circle jerk. Why Why would I not say sir get your work to file the second portion of the incident because they haven’t done it. Instead beet around the bush, watch the clock tick , and the months go bye.

    What about all the timelines they have on everything. They need a timeframe put on them. Then they need to be held accountable for it..
    I had asked several people at WSIB should my work and not be held accountable liable something for the five minute delay of the paperwork. This is what I got. Well sir they tried to deal with it on their own.

    This is shameful and disgusting!! I too had a very bad fall when we had a horrific ice storm. Not even Canada Post and Paramed would not go on this mans property because it was a sheet of ice I called my work and they told me to do my best I crawled like a dog on all fours to get to his ice covered steps and I carefully got to his steps and held on for dear life onto his icy hand rail . The reason I was going was to provide for this man because he was in a wheelchair. When I left the house his house, I held on to the stairs again and I carefully went down them. When I got to the bottom of the stairs and onto the icy pavement I had such a bad fall and my ribs hit the icy rock that was on his driveway. I fractured three of my ribs, I bruised my coccyx or tailbone I smashed 2 of my vertebrae and I had a huge hematoma (blood clot) on the left side that is as big as my arm starting at my shoulders and going all the way down to my hips. I am still so swollen I can’t walk. His property was so icy that he received in writing from Canada Post, Purolator, other companies med8cal or not who said that they would not go on his premises due to the icy conditions and their company’s felt it was not safe for their employees These companies would not allow their valued employees to go on this person’s property. However, the company I work for said to go and just do my best. Now, I have waited over a month and haven’t seen one paycheck. I am driving back and forth to work and have been in so much pain the first week that I had to take a few days off. I am now working on modified Works duties but I am still not getting paid. I have had to pay for all of my medications, sick notes, and now my doctor wants me to do laser physio which they will not pay for either. This is so unfair and unjust. What is a person to do when the company that you work for expects everything but gives you nothing in return. We must collectively come together and fight this because it is so unfair. I worked for this company for many many hours and never once asked for the extra pay that they owed me. That’s my problem. I am too compassionate and I let everybody walk all over me. However that is about to stop because I am sick of being sick and not feeling well and they’re expecting me to jump through hula hoops . I have broken my ribs and broken or herniated 2 discs and my coccyx is so swollen and bruised as well as having such a huge hematoma. I can’t even wear a bra because it is so sore and swollen

    Sad when the WSIB puts a person’s health at risk over the mighty dollar bill.

    I have had to pay for all of my medication, creams, gas, taking the 407 when it’s so expensive just to get to the office where I’m doing work that a kindergarten child could do.
    WSIB should be ashamed of themselves. It is difficult enough to always be in pain and to be going in a circle but doesn’t have an ending. It’s sad when someone chooses money over health concerns and long-term consequences. I am getting nowhere at work with human resources and my doctor is also getting fed up with what is required from her from WSIB

    I totally agree with this man. I had a injury at work which left me with a torn meniscus. I have been fighting with this doctor at the clinic for almost a year. He says I’m fine, when in fact it’s worse. He doesn’t listen, and is in with WSIB. They say I now have to find my own doctor. So is WSIB for the worker? NO! They don’t care what happens, and make it out to be your fault you were injured. When you call the office, you are shuttled around and no one ever calls you back. I have many claims with this injury denied, how is that fair?

    Should I have a witness video tape my session with the Altum clinic..I’m so afraid to go see them.I was hurt at work September 13,2018 and am unable to work still today…my back is so bad and my mental status is severely suffering.

    I have had a work injury due to a faulty piece of machinery. It crushed my finger over a year ago and during the last few weeks after my last assessment by wsib’s doctors I have not been able to get a response from them even though my left hand has been injured to the point that I have been designated as having a “new normal”. There has never been a day without pain and/or discomfort. Not to mention the things that I haven’t been able to do normally, if at all. Time to contact the ministry of labour and renew the conversation with my lawyer. Watch out WSIB! I will NOT leave this alone!

    I got fired from my job because I did wsib claim and I only got one check from wsib in the beginning of August I am still waiting for next pay even though my boss broke the rules the company is called Magnum demolition do not work for them they are corrupt so are wsib they go against people’s human rights I make you broke they should change the system people shouldn’t go through wsib they should sue their employer instead

    They tried to force me back to work when I could not even breath without pain. When I had the WSIB physio what they recommended to me made my condition worse, they minimized my condition and said it was enough time for me to have recovered.

    Hello I as well have been fighting WSIB for around a decade even though I have been deemed disabled due to my work injury, and still the fight goes on …. I am so disheartened by the way WSIB has and is still treating me, because I had to attend classes that WSIB had approved for any injured workers at the time would have to attend these classes and you would take all the painkillers they could shove down your throat! To deny going to these classes would be a red flag and your name would be denied benefits. If you think the WSIB clinic doctors have crossed the line from fiscal budget restraint to malpractice, and outright fraud: ready to misdiagnose workers to prevent/delay claims.” I am a PRIME EXAMPLE! My case is a classic, meaning I was almost crushed the day of my injury and all most my life. But with my strength I was able to push back a wall of car parts weighing around 2500 lbs. In the process I had over strained my spine and injured several disks at the time. The government had rolled out a new program for retraining and re schooling. Attendance was mandatory and Injured workers were to enter WSIB’s classes or be cut off and be labeled difficult to work with? April 28th is coming up let us not forget. Nothing has been the same since my work place accident. Sad to say it never will be. The Disabled need to be treated with dignity and respected. Yet I fear we have been forgotten?

      WSIB wants me to go to their clinic in Hamilton. It’s over a thousand miles from where I live plus I know they disregard your injury and say you are good to go to work even if your doctor says no work. My doctor is willing to send me to any doctor they want me to see only it will be in my home town. Can I choose my own doctor? Is that not my human right.
