Calgary firm to provide revolutionary rubber roof at St. Andrews golf resort

Euroshield "Heritage Slate" rubber roofing will replace the existing slate roof at the Old Course Hotel

The following is a press release from Euroshield Roofing…

Euroshield “Heritage Slate” rubber roofing chosen to replace slate roof on the iconic Old Course Hotel, St. Andrews, Scotland

The architect (Neil McLeish – NMA Architects – Edinburgh), CBA Surveyors and the property management company (Kohler Hospitality Project Management-WI) retained by the St. Andrews Links Trust, after an extensive world-wide product search, have selected Euroshield’s Heritage Slate rubber roofing to reroof the famous “5 star awarded” Old Course Hotel at St. Andrews Links, Scotland. The installation is set to begin on January 9.

The Old Course at St Andrews is one of the oldest golf courses in the world and with a 600 year history, is known as the “home of golf”. Open to the public, the course is located in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland.

The Old Course Hotel, regarded as one of Europe’s leading resorts, has a slate roof covering at present which is 28 years old and badly damaged by golf balls over the years. Euroshield’s Heritage Slate was chosen because it is an environmentally friendly and accurate replication of the current slate roof but also because of its ability to absorb and deflect the energy from golf ball impact without dents, cracks or damage. The current slate roof has considerable damage, cracked and broken tiles, from golf ball strikes over the years.

The installation will be undertaken by Braisby Roofing Ltd of Dunfermline, Fife

G.E.M. Inc., the manufacturer of Euroshield rubber roofing based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada manufactures slate-like and shake-like profiles for sloped roof applications. It is extremely impact resistant (UL2218 Class 4 Listed) and is one of a very few products available anywhere that is covered by a Hail Damage Warranty to 2” in diameter, in addition to a 50 year non-prorated product warranty.
