14 per cent of our Salary Survey contractors earned six figures last year

Canadian Contractor Financials

It's not quite the 80-20 rule, which would say that 20 per cent of the contractors make 80 per cent of the money. But it's close.

According to our recent Canadian Contractor salary survey, 14% of the contractors who responded earn more than $100,000 a year. This was down from 16% in last year’s survey. Our survey got 377 online responses. It was conducted in December 2014 and January 2015.

The median annual earnings of our reader respondents remains just shy of $70,000. This is about $20,000 higher than the average Canadian full-time wage.

Here are the full results, by annual compensation bracket.  (And this does not include profits reinvested in the company by independent owner operators.)
