A Lifetime Contractor, a Toronto area firm, has been named Renovator of the Year by the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD). The company received the coveted award on opening day of the National Home Show at the Direct Energy Centre at Exhibition Place, Toronto.

A Lifetime Contractor is in its 66th year of renovating homes and is led by President Sandra Baldwin, who followed her father’s footsteps into the renovation industry.

“Sandra Baldwin and her team have gone above and beyond to professionalize the industry, not only by participating as a BILD member and in the RenoMark program, but by proving that homeowners can renovate with confidence when they chose to work with a professional renovator,” said BILD Vice President of Membership and RenoMark program manager, Helen Batista.

Nominated by a past client, the A Lifetime Contractor team was described as “wonderful to work with” because the homeowner “knew [he] was in good hands.”A number of past clients surveyed also noted that the company has an informative team committed to delivering exceptional quality on time.

The nomination was also accompanied by letters from the Dean and a faculty member of George Brown College’s Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies commending the company’s support for the education of the future leaders in the industry, as well as Sandra Baldwin’s dedication to teaching over the last four years.

The Renovator of the Year award is bestowed to a renovator who sets the standard for the rest of the sector in their leadership and commitment to customer service, as well as contributing to the overall image of the renovation industry.

It is nice to hear positive news and customer praise for those who deliver quality results!

The industry is often tarnished with horror stories of renovations gone wrong. I wonder if a lot of the bad experiences could have been avoided if more training, business process and communication were included as stand practices?

It is vital to identify and celebrate those who deliver exceptional service within our industry but also critical that we learn how and what these achievers are doing so we all improve our businesses and raise the bar within the industry.

Congratulations to Sandra Baldwin and her team!

Agreed. We need to hear more from the likes of Sandra Baldwin; contractors who can share their knowledge with others and mature the industry as they do. Sandra, anytime you want a forum for your wisdom, give me a call.
