The home renovation website www.houzz.com, is creating quite a buzz among Canadians looking for ideas and information about home design and remodeling. The site had 1.5 million unique Canadian visitors in July and it has just publishing a “Houzz and Home Study” that reveals reno and décor intentions in this country.
According to the study, 72 per cent of Canadians will do a home décor project in the next 24 months. 40 per cent of Canadians will add living space or renovator a portion of all of our homes. Flooring is the most popular renovation category, with bathroom renos coming in second. 56 per cent of those Canadians who responded to the survey said that real estate values were the driving force behind their intentions to renovate or decorate.
The site also contains information on spending per project. In Calgary, consumers are paying $32,000 for a kitchen reno, a project that averages only $22,000 in Vancouver and Montreal.
