Amazon, eBay, Craigslist, Kijiji and many more are doing huge business in tools and materials.

Beyond the online sites of the major hardware and building supply chains, there are now hundreds – even thousands – of good online places to buy tools and materials.

Amazon is such a large online retailer of power tools, for example, that it now rivals Home Depot’s online presence with the public.

Companies like Harbor Freight Tools, one of the biggest discount tools retailers in the world, ship into Canada extensively.

Sites like eBay, Craigslist and Kijiji do significant business in tools, equipment and even building materials.

I never thought the online sales of tools would take off since people want to touch and try their tools first. But recenlty we made some purchases on Amazon for the only reason that the price was a lot lower then Home Depot.
I think places like Home Depot will start seeing major competition from online retailers.
It is sad, you try to support local stores to keep jobs, but the prices online can be much lower.

I was recently scammed by a tool website which is still online today, . I ordered, paid with my credit card, waited & waited. Their ‘online tracking’ is bogus, as is the company. No replies to emails. Hopefully my credit card company can help out.
Beware, if the price is too cheap, it’s probably a scam!!
