Site Tips: PEX pipe for an exterior hose bibb

Canadian Contractor

This tip was sent to us by Paul Baylis of R.H.Jones Mechanical Contractors, Prince George, B.C.

Here is the first in our series of Site Tips, sponsored by Home Hardware.

This one comes to us from Paul Baylis, or R.H. Jones Mechanical Contractors, Prince George, B.C.

Paul says that inserting a length of PEX pipe when connecting up an exterior faucet will mean that, in the event of the faucet failing (presumably in the event of freezing), the Bibb can be replaced in a jiffy without digging into the interior wall.

Wrong product. Sell the customer a no-freeze hose bib and you don’t have to put extra PEX in the ceiling cavity. http://www.woodfordmfg.com/woodford/Wall_Faucet_Pages/Model-19.html
