The (Ontario College of Trades) letter gets a little threatening, saying that… if payment isn't received my name goes on (their) list as not certified. Who are these morons…

Canadian Contractor Auto Service

Norm, an auto service guy in Niagara Falls, Ont., shared with us his "threatening" letter from the Ontario College of Trades - and the employee there who, he said, told him he was lucky that his C of Q renewal prices were subsidized by taxes all these years. Nice.

Norm, an auto service guy in the Niagara Falls, Ont. area, posted twice after receiving a “threatening” letter from the newly-established Ontario College of Trades. (We’ve edited his two posts into one bigger post here.)

“I paid my $120 last February for my 310S and 310T tickets (Editor’s note: we think those are C of Q’s for automobile service technician and truck and coach technician). Three weeks later I got a notice from the Ontario College of Trades that they are now regulating these trades. On Jan. 10 this year, I got an invoice for $6.76 for renewal of these tickets – the prorated amount from February 2014 until expiration in 2015. That is total BS. I renewed last year under the Ministry of Skills Development for 3 years and 2 weeks later they send me notice that things have changed (Ontario College of Trades). They should have sent the notice about the changes first rather than rip me off for a 3 year renewal that they knew would be void under the new changes.

On Jan. 13 this year, I get final notice. The letter gets a little threatening, stating if payment isn’t received within 60 days of expiration that it’s additional $120 to renew (my tickets) and my name goes on the (Ontario College of Trades) list as not certified. Who are these morons that took $120 from me last February where the Ministry of Skills gave me a “3 year” renewal?

They just came along and changed my trade contract so they can generate revenue! I called (the Ontario College of Trades) and the girl went into this BS about how her taxes subsidized my licence for the past years because the rate was too low. I flat out told her that I did not recognize the College of Trades and they could take a flying leap. The McGuinty and Wynne governments covered their bases here: the CEO of the College is a former PC cabinet minister under Mike Harris (Dave Tsubouchi).

I did get a good lecture though on unions and how to start one when I called Monday. This was all brought about by the brotherhood of electrical workers and that two-faced idiot that was premier. His replacement is just as bad. My MPP here in Niagara is of no use and Tim Hudak is all talk – he won’t even reply to emails. No wonder his popularity is so low – and I support the PC’s. This cash cow is here to stay.”
