In an effort to curb drunk driving, the Supreme Court of India banned the sale of alcohol in establishments with half-a-kilometre (1,640 feet) of major highways as of April 1, 2017. One bar in the state of Kerala on the southwest coast of the country came up with a creative workaround: they added a concrete labyrinth at their front entrance that meant the walking distance from the nearest highway to the front door exceeded the required minimum. No word if they’ll charge accommodation fees for drunk patrons who can’t find their way out and decide to just sleep it off in the maze.
