Busting Myths About Skylights (VIDEO): Part 3

Rob Koci continues his discussion with skylight experts Mark Taylor and Russell Ibbotson from VELUX. In this episode, the discussion includes ways to educate the homeowner about skylights.

Rob Koci makes a key point in this video: Customers sometimes want skylights but they don’t know enough about them.

It’s true. Homeowners want the benefits of skylights: fresh air and light reaching deep into a home, among others. However, they need education by the contractor as to the options.

VELUX, one of North America’s premier skylight manufacturers, does a lot of home shows and opens up its offices and showrooms to the public – all with the goal of educating the consumer about skylights.

The goal is to remove misconceptions about skylights. To take just one example, homeowners often think they can’t install a skylight in a room with a flat ceiling. They may not know about VELUX’s Sun Tunnel skylights which can bring light down 25 feet from the roofline, with no major structural changes required!

So educating the consumer is key. To help you, the contractor, to be a part of this education, the company offers an installer certification program – VELUX Installers Program – which has many benefits including sales and installation training.
