Steve Maxwell, our tools editor, shows us how a well was drilled at his son’s cabin on Manitoulin Island, Ontario. Two different drill bits were used in a rotating, pounding action to power through the limestone bedrock. A very good well was established – though that’s not always the case, since drilling for water can be a hit and miss process.
