Alec says: "80 per cent of Ontario construction workers who took the new Working at Heights training in 2015 are now non-compliant."

Alec Caldwell, founder of the Canadian Association of Renovators and Home Services (CARAHS) wrote posts from us every week from 2012 until 2016. The past couple of years, Alec has been so busy with his contractor training business that he’s been absent from our site. COME BACK ALEC!

Here is his latest…

The Ontario Ministry of Labour (MOL) has a 2018 Working at Heights problem.

It seems that only 20 per cent of those who took the Working at Heights training in 2015 renewed their refresher training in 2018. This is a major issue the MOL is facing.

The MOL has had 3 years (since 2015) to address this issue and they have failed to address it.

This issue is now that in 2018, 80 per cent of those workers who took training in 2015 are now non-compliant because they have not renewed their cards/tickets. This is a terrible oversight by the province.

President, CARAHS

Good to see your back on point for safety Alec, was wondering when we would see some more articles from you.
Will make sure all the cards are checked today for expiry dates.
