I don’t like the prices

Several years ago, we wrote an article about a new idea called “Straightforward Pricing,” which involved shifting from hourly rates to a price list with different tiers.
Many contractors piped in over the years, but the thread had been dormant for three and a half years… until Mike revived it with the following take:
I really don’t like the prices mentioned above in the example of “Straightforward Pricing.” In my line of work, I’m able to give the customer a quote for the job, rather than an hourly rate. I realize that is not always possible depending on what’s being done.
Now that this topic is back in the limelight, perhaps some newer readers would like to offer their two cents.
