Here we go, making it that much more impossible for our young people to own a home.

Usually a first home is a stepping stone to a better home as the owners make upgrades and renovations to it as their savings allow. But Net Zero Energy (NZE) homes are just the beginning of government regulating a whole sector of our population out of home ownership. Builders shouldn’t be rubbing their hands together too hard at these new energy standards. They could have the opposite impact on our industry as young families soon may be forced – because of the costs – to live in high rise apartment buildings. NZE homes should be voluntary not mandatory!
