Here is a response to Paul Duffy’s article that explains the difference between Net Zero, Near Zero and True Zero Energy houses….
Everyone is confused by Net Zero… The building industry has been surrendered to many LARGE players whos only interest is Profits and not progressing us towards Net Zero. Actually, our methods and materials have taken us back as far as the 1900s, and nobody has noticed. Houses that cost millions and last an average of 30 years are a disgraceful achievement for any civilization. The main problem is “Wood Frame Construction.” Fix this and you have stupidly easy “Net Zero.”

Not sure who built your million dollar houses that last for thirty years but mine cost a tenth of that and is near 50 and better than ever. My brothers house is 108 and going strong. It really is not rocket science, if you have a good roof and a good foundation a well made wood building will last nearly forever.
