Canadian Contractor assistance disability ramp rebate wheelchair

We are currently having a condo built because my husband is disabled with 2 forms of cancer and he is unable to manage stairs. He currently uses a walker and cane but may need a wheelchair soon. We would like to install a ramp in the garage to access the main floor. We also want to know about grab bars in the bathrooms and shower and a seat for the walk-in shower. Are there any rebates or income tax benefits available to us in Windsor, Ontario, Canada?

The March of Dimes administers a Home and Vehicle modification program in Ontario. If they can’t help, they can probably point you in the right direction. Contractor Nation, what else you got?

Hi; The March of Dimes program is a good one. Ontario Renovates is a provincial program that helps low to moderate income seniors with these type of renos. Windsor’s municipal website indicates that program isn’t currently running, but I think this may be out of date. I’d call the municipality to see if they have any updated info on that or other local programs that might help. The contact info I found on the Windsor website is: Program Development Officer, Housing Services, Windsor/Essex at 519-255-5200 ext. 5349.
Veteran’s Affairs also has funding if you are eligible.
