David Tsubouchi, Registrar and CEO of the College of Trades, campaigns for his job

"In my opinion, Mr. Tsubouchi is dealing in half-truths."

While the Liberals, PC’s and the NDP duke it out in Ontario, grabbing headlines and votes, quietly working away in the background is David Tsubouchi, CEO of the Ontario College of Trades. He continues to deliver his smooth spin (in my opinion, half truths) about how much OCOT is needed.

This week Tsubouchi was on his favorite  Toronto talk show station (AM640) talking about why OCOT is a good thing. (Well, I can think of one reason he feels this way: They employ him for an estimated $180,000 a year!)

But this public-sector-type money isn’t the only paycheque Tsubouchi can count on. He already has his MPP’s pension and, when first appointed to run the OCOT last fall, was still at that time officially listed as a lawyer with a prominent law firm and even now seems to wear an incredible number of hats. He is Honorary Consul-General for Mongolia. He sits on the Board of Governors for Seneca College. He sits on the Board of Directors for Markham-Stouffville Hospital.  He is Co-Chair of the Canada Vietnam Business Council.

While wearing his Ontario College of Trades hat, building their bureaucratic empire in some of the most expensive real estate in North America (Bay Street), Tsubouchi is arguing for why uncertified contractors outside of the OCOT must eventually come into their fold. And pay their bills. Or be fined or have their jobsites shut down.

Karen Renkema of the Stop the Trade Tax Campaign recently asked, “Why are the Liberals forcing trades people out of work?” She went on to add, “On June 12, vote for your local candidate who will abolish the College of Trades.”

Make your political representatives accountable by exercising your democratic privilege. Be sure to get out and vote.

How much does Tsubounchi want on the cost of others? For sure The OCOT is a good thing, for him and all crooks like him. If he has any morals at all he should not have taken this CEO position. He criticize the Canadian government on his book, on the pass for the treatment of his parents went through in war times.

What his doing is insane getting paid from all sides and doing very little for. That’s the kind of jobs the Liberal will create if they win this next election, and later they come up like crocodiles in tears on political debates asking all kinds of sorry. This insane life style cronies should stop, the money they take will create a lot of jobs, for example In hospitals, schools, take care of the elders and so on.

Any one have business have to have the WSIB and liability insurance to cover in case lawsuits and work accidents, to be insured, why politicians can screw up billions of public founds and not be accountable for it? Sorry was a mistake the billion dollars gas plant, Wynne on the political debate, really? not even one sucker get’s fired, this does not work in the real world.

There is a need for all the red tape clean up, and feel sorry not for these bastards.

  3. Well said Questo,

Ex premier walks away with big pensions and a huge deal that went wrong and nearly a billion to buy out the contract. Nothing deducted from his big MPP pension and in my opinion he should have lost every penny of it.

Then in comes Wynne, underhand deal with Ocot Trades and the carpenrers union to slan home renovation construction. unemploying everyone, including all construstion cuttin wood or drywall, who have no tickets. Carpenyers Union going against their brother unions for their own greed.

We can’t trust these Liberals and maybe not even Hudak, but at least in the meantime hesaid he’ll stop it. Time will tell. Vote PC to save our jobs.

    Sorry for typo’s on phone
