4,000 homeowners in Southern U.S. will collect damages from toxic Chinese drywall firm
Canadian ContractorBetween 12,000 and 20,000 American homes were built (or renovated) with toxic Chinese drywall between 2001 and 2007, most of them in the southern states. Just under a million square feet of Chinese drywall came into Canada during that period, but complaints of that products' quality have been conspicuous by their absence in this country.
4,000 homeowners in the Southern U.S. who sued a Chinese drywall firm – Taishan Gypsum Co. Ltd. – will share damages that may total over a billion dollars, Canadian Press reports. The homeowners sued because of the odour and corrosion that the company’s board allegedly produced in these homes.
