Voting under way on Quebec residential construction labour contract

The APCHQ is conducting voting across the province to inform negotiations on a new labour contract that will be in effect until 2029. It’s asking members to vote on the following positions:

  • The union demand for an increase in hourly wage rates: an increase of 24.35% over 4 years.
  • The agreement on the increase in social benefits (retirement and medical insurance): increase of 22% over 4 years.
  • The possibility of triggering a lock-out, at the time deemed appropriate, if the Trade Union Alliance triggers a legal strike under Bill R20.

ICI and civil construction workers in Quebec have already ratified an agreement in principle, surprising observers. Workers in those sectors will receive eight percent raises in the first year, five percent in 2026 and 2027 and four percent in 2028.
