Death by walnut

Add “allergic reaction to sandblasting” as yet another way you can be killed on the job. A 33-year-old Edmonton resident died while working on a fire hall restoration project in October. He was there to test the air quality after some sandblasting, not realizing the medium used was walnut particles. He went into anaphylactic shock and never recovered. His family took him off life support a few days later. Worth keeping in mind if anyone on your crew has a severe nut allergy.
