Kitchener, ON woman needs help getting a wheelchair ramp built for her daughter

Anyone interested in helping? Please post under the story.

Hi. I live in a house in Kitchener, Ontario. I have a daughter that is in a manual wheelchair. I need a wheelchair ramp built in the front of my rental unit. I have been lifting her in and out but I can’t do it anymore due to arthritis and osteoporosis in my back. I spoke to my landlord and he gave me permission to get one built! But I need funding for it so wondering how it works. Thank you.

Lorelei, we are very sorry to hear of your – and your daughter’s – situation. It’s a heartbreaking story. There MAY be some funding available for this sort of thing through the Ontario Renovates program.  Please see the link to their website in our story here on Disability Renovation grants from earlier in the year. Anyone that can help with this, please post.
