Plumbers versus doctors

Don't denigrate plumbing as just another "blue collar job" or "glorified labour" says Scott

Scott Whittaker, apparently a plumber, posted this comment in support of the argument that some contractors – especially plumbers – deserve to earn as much as doctors.

“What plumbing contractors do is safeguard the health of a nation. They deal directly with issues which can cause poor health and, in the case of e. coli contamination, potential death. Their dedication is to protect the lives and quality of life of their client base through attention to detail and the consistent quality of their repair and maintenance work in their customers’ homes. Some people say, however, they should not be compared to doctors. True, because doctors only treat the symptoms while plumbers prevent the illness in the first place! Without water there is no life. So this particular “blue collar job” should not be denigrated by those who believe it is merely glorified labor and should be cheap. Instead, we should be asking if we are actually paying enough for what we are getting from plumbers. How much is your life actually worth? Only you can answer that.”
