Re: The Ontario College of Trades – electrician not “consenting to the use of my private info.”

"If the Ontario College of Trades is backed by law, they don't need my consent. If they are not backed by law, I do not consent."

Here is a comment from Joe on the Ontario College of Trades. See their latest video, with its highly questionable claims, here.

“When the Ontario College of Trades started a couple of years ago, they sent me a nice letter saying that I was granted automatic “membership” into the College as I am a journeyman electrician. A short time later, they requested that I fill out a membership application and sign their privacy policy and consent to the use of my private info. NOT gonna happen! As an automatic member, I am not signing anything and I do not consent to anything. I never had a choice.

If they are backed by law, they don’t need my consent and if they are not backed by law, I do not consent!!!!”

  1. Robert Sloan says:

Once again the C of T can’t get anything right. It is now reasonable for a homeowner (as a result of this video) to think that a valid C o T card makes it a legal hire. Shame! The ESA/ECRA has spent a couple million on public awareness…”Hire a licensed Electrical Contractor”. This just empowers the underground economy of moon lighters and we all suffer.
