Which type of circ saw do you prefer: sidewinders or worm drives?
Mark Bernier's 1980s worm drive is still going strong. "It cuts rings around the little saws."
We are going to send a $50 gas card to a random commenter on this topic…
“Which type of circ saw do you prefer: sidewinder or worm drive?”
Here is a comment from Mark Bernier, who is one of the names going into our random draw…
I use a sidewinder for a lot of small and easy stuff but for SERIOUS cutting the worm drive comes out on top as it will cut rings around the little saws. My 1980’s vintage worm drive is a little newer than Rob’s 1975 Skilsaw.
BTW when you are cutting a lot of dimensional lumber to the same size don’t take it off the pallet. Knock the pallet square and then chalk line the top and sides to length. Cut the first layer, throw them to the gopher and then chalk between the side marks and cut again.

I have used both types ,I more prefer the sidewinder to me they aren’t as cumbersome as the worm drive . It’s to each trades mans preference as long as it’s a straight even square cut. Kudos to both types of saws
