Magazine for professional home renovators.

Seminar will teach “accessibility” reno skills

It’s been called the biggest new business opportunity for renovators in decades. One in four Canadians will be considered disabled by the time they reach 65, and almost all of them will need “accessibility” renovations to their existing homes if they to avoid being forced to move into a homecare facility or to another already-modified house or apartment.

Many contractors would like to do this kind of work but lack the necessary expertise in building codes, design standards, fixtures and equipment. Nor do many of them know how to market themselves as an accessibility-specialist contractor.

An upcoming seminar in Toronto will teach all this and more. The Sept. 19 one-day course for renovators and contractors is called “Expand Your Market Through Accessibility.” It is part of the ongoing education series of CARAHS (Canadian Association of Renovators and Home Services) and will cost $195 + HST for CARAHS members and $225 + HST for non-CARAHS members.
