Holmes Referred Contractors to cease operations on July 15Canadian Contractor Business canada Professional
Holmes Referred Contractors kicked off its referral operations with a program for pro painters, two years ago. Contractors would pay to join, and then pay for leads coming through the program. The public would receive three contractors to bid on each job, each of them members of the program.
Editor’s Note: Below is the text of a bulk email sent out about 10 days ago by the Mike Holmes organization, detailing the impending closure of the Holmes Referred Contractors business. It’s from Craig Lowe, a professional painter who had been running the referral business for the past two years. The program originally kicked off with painters – and there were plans to extend the Holmes Referred brand to other sub trades.
After two years of development, Holmes Referred Contractors (HRC) will be ceasing operations as of July 15, 2014.
We want to thank all members for helping build the program, and your dedication to doing your best work on every job. Your efforts and skill have helped hundreds of homeowners and clients have better, safer and healthier homes, which was the goal of the program.
Given the expiry of HRC, all HRC logos and references to the program must be removed from your website by August 1st, 2014.
In addition, we request that all members submit their HRC promotional materials, including magnets, decals and lawn signs. In order to do so free of charge, we will be sending you a FedEx envelope and pre-paid shipping label via Canada Post within the next few weeks. After you have inserted and sealed all outstanding promotional materials into the envelope, you can call FedEx to schedule a pick-up or drop off the envelope at your local FedEx location.
Once materials have been received membership refunds will be issued to those members who still have remaining time on their membership.
We want to thank all of you again for your excellent work and dedication to the program. We know that each of you will continue in your success as top contractors and tradespeople, and continue to make it right!

Any explanations as to why the shut down of the service?
I was approached last year and the fee was extremely high. I declined to offer an application as I’m to busy the way it is and I always ‘Do It Right’ the first time as well!!
Ontario college of Trades is one reason likely.
