Sub trade asks for advice on how to get paid by his GC

The quote was fine. The P.O. was issued. The site foreman saw the job being successfully completed. Now the GC won't pay up. What gives?

We’ve been publishing Canadian Contractor for almost 20 years.  One of highest readerships we have ever had for an online piece is from our “Getting Paid” article (May 4, 2012). Mostly it was about contractors trying to get paid by homeowners. But also sub trades being ripped off by deadbeat GCs.

Here is yet another a comment about that, almost seven years after we posted it here!

What is the best way to deal with a general contractor that issued a P.O. for a quote supplied to them, then the company’s site foreman was on site witness the job being completed – and then the GC refuses to pay, stating the work was not done!
