Do illegal workers deserve Working at Heights training in Ontario?
Canadian ContractorUnder the table workers still need their Working At Heights certificates. Which leaves them in a dilemma.
Many undocumented (illegal) workers in Toronto construction work sites know they need their Working at Heights tickets to work and stay compliant under current Ontario laws, not only for their own safety, but for the safety of all other workers around them.
It seems many of these undocumented workers are afraid to come out of the shadows to attend any regulated Ministry of Labour approved Working at Heights training courses.
The fear of being exposed and located is the main concern, especially when all who attend this training must supply to the Ministry their current address.
This is a serious situation that needs to be addressed. Is there a solution?

If these illegal workers are doing any kind of work at construction sites, those who allow them to be there need to be investigated and punished, never mind about any safety courses for them, they shouldn’t be there in first place.
